TRANS RIGHTS ARE HUMAN RIGHTS

Every year we celebrate Transgender Awareness Week. The one-week celebration is observed from November 13-19, which leads up to the Transgender Day of Remembrance on November 20, which memorializes victims of transphobic violence.  Everyday at CJR we honor the resilience and strength of the Transgender community. Normally CJR provides a safe space for members of the Transgender community but due to COVID- restrictions unfortunately we are not able to do so at this time.

 

Due to the City of Chicago Stay-At-Home-Advisory we are providing a link to online transgender awareness week events such as a film screening of the documentary Mama Gloria. It is a birds eye view of Chicago’s Black transgender icon Gloria Allen, who illuminated a path like few others before her. A discussion will follow the screening.
